Mission Statement
Historic Brown Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church is a Covenant body of baptized believers who faithfully follow the Spirit of the Son of God, who is Jesus the Christ, and the Word of God, as revealed in the Holy Scriptures, as we passionately, persistently, and progressively pursue and practice spiritual excellence in Worshipping Him, Witnessing to His Living Presence and Working for His Kingdom to come and His will to be done here on earth as it is in heaven until He returns.
Vision Statement
Our Vision is to faithfully, fervently and persistently magnify God and glorify Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior with a spirit of excellence in all of the life, labor and love we offer in service to Him, His Church and His people.
Values/Beliefs
Our Values are a reflection of our Vision and our Mission. We realize our Mission and our Vision by regularly and persistently practicing our Values.
There is an interconnectedness of all values that develop in our lives through the Spirit’s work in us and the Fruit of the Spirit which is produced by the Spirit living and working in us. None of these values stands alone. In fact, each requires and depends on the others in order to exist at all.
The Fruit of the Spirit:
- Love – 1 John 4:10
- Joy 1 – Thessalonians 1:6
- Peace – Philippians 4:7
- Patience, Forbearance – 1 Timothy 1:16
- Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness – Titus 3:4-5, 2 Peter1:3, Matthew 11:29
- Faithfulness – 2 Thessalonians 3:3
- Self Control – Romans 8:9
I have been crucified with Christ [in Him, I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me, and the life I now live in the body, I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me. [Therefore, I do not treat God’s gracious gift as something of minor importance and defeat its very purpose]; – Galatians 2:20-21a (Amplified Bible)
If then you have been raised to a new life with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead], aim at and seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth. – Colossians 3:1-2 (Amplified Bible)
