The Historic Brown Chapel AME Church is offering a virtual audio tour of actual events that occurred here during the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Movement in 1965. These events are narrated by a lifetime member and Footsoldier of Brown Chapel Church. You will learn about the mass meetings, voting discrimination practices, “Bloody Sunday,” the Selma to Montgomery Historic Trail, and many other injustices that began here at Brown Chapel Church. You will also be given the names of important figures that played a pivotal role in organizing and leading these movements. Leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the late great U.S. Congressman John Lewis. The Historic Brown Chapel AME Church is a Historic Landmark and is on the Selma to Montgomery Historic Trail.
