Today, the Historic Brown Chapel got a surprise visit from one of Malcolm X daughters Ilyasah Shabazz. Tour guide Bruce L. Holmes, Sr. presents her with his cookbook “Cooking in Selma During and After the Civil Rights Movement Cookbook.”

During our 60th Anniversary of “Bloody Sunday,” Mr. Brent Leggs, Executive Director of The African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund, announced a $1 million donation to Brown Chapel AME Church toward the restoration project. This was some great news at our 60th “Bloody Sunday” Celebration.

60th Anniversary Celebration with Attorney Bryan Stevenson, serving as the keynote speaker, was a privilege and an honor for all of us in attendance. The founder and Executive Director of the Equal Justice Initiative— a human rights organization in Montgomery, Alabama.
